Cadiz CF Bets Big on Innovation: Nomadar Becomes First La-Liga Affiliated Venture to Hit Nasdaq

Spanish football is getting a Silicon Valley twist. Cádiz CF, the 115-year-old club from southern Spain, has officially taken its innovation arm, Nomadar public on the Nasdaq marking one of the first times a European football club has spun off a tech and innovation arm for a U.S. listing.

Club president Vizcaíno a former Sevilla and La Liga executive, called the move “a new era for Spanish football,” signaling a shift from matchday revenue to scalable business models in sport, tourism, and technology.

“La Liga encouraged us to explore new income beyond the 38 or 40 matches we play each year,” Vizcaíno said. “That’s how Nomadar was born — to find business on the days without football.”

Set to trade under the ticker NOMA 0.00%↑, Nomadar’s public debut follows approval for a Direct Public Offering (DPO)** on October 31. Its flagship project, Sportech City, is a $300 million, 110,000-square-meter hub near Cádiz that blends **sports, tourism, health, and technology —a physical manifestation of the global sports innovation movement.

Led by Vizcaíno and executive co-chairman Rafael Contreras, Nomadar positions itself as a bridge between sport and innovation. Originally launched as the club’s internal innovation arm, it now operates independently with revenue streams spanning real estate, e-commerce, athlete training, and global brand licensing. Among its assets: exclusive rights to the Mágico González brand, a nod to the Salvadoran legend whose flair defined Cádiz’s football identity in the 1980s.

Despite Cádiz’s recent relegation from La Liga, Vizcaíno says the club’s ambitions are only getting bigger. While Sportech City remains anchored in Spain, its digital platforms are designed for a global footprint, supported by partnerships with football academies in the United States, India, and Japan. “They’re focused on high-performance training for young players and professionals who want to develop their skills,” Vizcaíno added.
