Apple Maps Goes Full Throttle on F1's Miami Grand Prix
With Formula 1 revving up for its first U.S. stop of the 2026 season, Apple is proving that sports tech isn't just about what happens on the field — it's about what happens in your pocket on the way to the stadium.
Apple Maps just rolled out a fully immersive 3D experience for the Miami International Autodrome, arriving ahead of the May 3 Miami Grand Prix. It's the second circuit to get this treatment in Apple's "2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World" guide, following the season-opening Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.
"Apple isn't just streaming the races — it's rebuilding the entire fan journey inside its ecosystem, from Maps to Apple TV, one circuit at a time."
More than a map
This isn't a pin drop on a satellite image. Apple has built out detailed 3D landmarks across the Miami Autodrome — think grandstands you can zoom into, a rendered Pit Building complete with digital race cars, The Marina, the Finish Line, and more. It also layers in practical race-day navigation: gates, race entrances, bridges, restrooms, and water stations.

Inside Apple's F1 Playbook
This Maps experience doesn't exist in isolation. Last October, Apple and Formula 1 announced a landmark five-year partnership giving Apple TV exclusive U.S. streaming rights — covering every practice session, qualifying round, Sprint, and Grand Prix. Starting this season, Apple TV subscribers can catch all of it at no extra charge.
The Maps integration is Apple's way of connecting the dots across its ecosystem: use Apple TV to follow the season, use Apple Maps to navigate to (or virtually explore) the track. More circuits are slated to get the full 3D treatment as the season progresses, so expect this to become a recurring touchpoint for F1 fans throughout 2026.

For the sports tech community, this is a compelling case study: how a tech company uses a major sports rights deal not just for content distribution, but as a forcing function to innovate across the entire product portfolio. Apple Maps, Apple TV, and Formula 1 are all stronger together — and fans are the ones who benefit.
